Popularity of Wrexham Properties Demonstrates Need for More New Homes

The speed with which properties are being snapped up at our Erddig Place development in Wrexham, particularly by first-time buyers, demonstrates just how desperately needed new homes are in the area.

We welcomed our first residents there last October, although interest had been strong from the moment we announced that we’d be developing 79 new homes on the former Brothers Industries site which had stood empty for so long.

The final ten townhouses there were released for sale earlier this month and six were reserved within the first hour!  Our Sales Manager, Caryl Russell, commented: “We’ve had interested purchasers regularly enquiring as to when the final properties at Erddig Place would become available.  However, it was nonetheless a surprise to be welcomed at the Sales Office by several very eager buyers.

“There’s been overwhelming interest from young first-time buyers for whom the open plan layout and spacious bedrooms of these two and three-bedroom townhouses is particularly appealing.  They’re often seeking flexible accommodation that will adapt as their needs develop and being priced from just £132, 995 with Help to Buy Wales also available, these homes provide an affordable first step on the property ladder.”

Richard and Rebecca were amongst those to secure one of the final townhouses earlier this month and they’re delighted to be looking forward to a future together on this vibrant new development.

Rebecca said:

“Buying your first home is a big step and the media portrays it as an almost impossible mountain to climb for young people like us.  We were, therefore, delighted to find out about Erddig Place where we’ve secured an affordable, quality property.

“Being able to buy our home in Wrexham was important to us and we have many friends who would also like to put down roots here, if only there were more suitable properties available to buy.  It’s a town that offers great employment opportunities and it has good transport links, but young people will move away if there aren’t sufficient homes for them.”

Macbryde’s Managing Director, Gwyn Jones, concluded:

“Erddig Place has enjoyed strong interest from the day we announced our plans for the site and the speed with which the final release of homes is being snapped up demonstrates just how strong demand for quality, affordable homes in the town is.

“First-time buyers have proved particularly keen to invest in our homes here and we need to ensure that a continued supply of homes that appeals to this important demographic is built, otherwise we risk losing their talent to other parts of the UK which would be a shame.

“I’d urge any interested purchasers in the remaining few plots at Erddig Place to act quickly so that they don’t miss out!”

The sales and marketing suite opens daily at Erddig Place from 1030 to 1730 and Help to Buy Wales, the government’s equity loan scheme is available on all properties at the development.
